September 2010

Spring is here and its time to work in the garden...prune, fertilse, soil conditioner, mulch it all up and prepare it for summer. I have a few of my potted plants ready to be repotted or go into the backyard for summer. I am still thinking if I should wait for the landscape guy to finish before I put these into my garden because I am anticipating a bit of ripping out and digging when the lawn and retic go in. The landscape work will hopefully begin September end and I am eagerly looking forward to it.

Meanwhile, back indoors I am trying my hand at making a turtle without a pattern. Now, it is challenging but also exciting to try to make a felt softie with a twist. I find the turtle shell a bit tricky but hey it is supposed to be a fun activity so I am making it and enjoying as it goes :)

P.S : I have to take fresh pics of Mr.Owl , cannot open the images after I transferred them to my computer...wonder why?? Oh well, fresh pics will be up soon.

Projects from 2009

Just found some images of sewing and chicken scratch I did last year and thought I would upload them here.
The one on blue gingham is the first one I made while learning chicken scratch embroidery . Second one is corner pattern on a blue pillow case. Still working on the second one to complete the pair :)

Project for August 2010

Recently, I came across an article in comunity paper about a lady selling plush toys for babies online. One of the toys in the picture was of that of an owl. I found it so cute that I hoped I would find a few easy patterns online ( I can't sew for my life :) ) .
I did find so many adorable ones. Some of them were easy and since I have never tried making a soft toy before,I tried easy one from http://www.heynowwhoanow.com/decorate/free-download-owls/
The pattern is so simple and cute. I made one with felt as I find it easier to work with felt.
Will be posting a picture of the owl I made very soon.
